Master Volume
Post by ScorpionFish on Jan 12th, 2018, 08:00am

Hi guys! I know some Soldano models has master volume, and I would like to know your experience with that, once the master doesn't work well for many brands. There are many people telling me that the use a master causes dynamic loss.

Thank you!

I can only share my experiences with my SLO. Contrary to what I read (almost) everywhere I've found that the MV works very well even when dialed down to relatively low volumes.
Somewhere between 8.30 and 9.00 o'clock is where the fun starts which (for me) translates to lowish rehearsel volume.

Above 1-2 o'clock which is obnoxiously loud it starts mushing out.

It helps that I use 5881's which are definately less loud than the JJ 6L6's I used earlier.

SLO wakes up at 3 on master. 4.5 and it's really good, 6-7 ( where I always run in my shop) is possessive.

All other 50-100 watt amps are similar.

Hot Rod 25 can run at whisper volumes and sound amazing either clean or high gain.

Thanks for your reply guys, actually I'm studying this idea for the Lucky 13, I don't even know if they do it.
