firing up amps that haven't been used in a while

So whats the go with this? I always knew old vintage amps need to slowly powered up by a tech if not used for years. But today i warmed up my SLO-1OO which i brought brand new in 2013 after about 6-8 months or storage at my parents place.
Once I turned standby off after a minute or so, it seemed to take a little longer for sound to come out and there was a buzzy noise (but that buzz seems to have gone and was linked to dusty volume pot).
Hopefully I'll be jamming with it once a week from now on, but what harm if any is done to amps that aren't played much? I always used to at least plug it in at bedroom volume once a week, but can't do that anymore as i'm not living with my folks.
Im probably just overthinking everything, but I'm very fussy with my amps and like to keep them in tip top shape
