New here. I purchased a used Astroverb combo about eight years ago. I love the amp. It's a fantastic grab-and-go gigging amp, but it's been horribly unreliable. It plays fine for a few minutes, but after it warms up, it starts making a horrible constant buzzing noise. This doesn't have to be when it's being pushed hard either. Even if I'm playing at home levels, it happens. Over the years, I've had two different very well regarded amp techs try to solve the problem. They've replaced tubes, installed a standby switch, replaced the original plastic tube sockets with ceramic ones, and even replaced the bias section. Replacing the tube sockets got it to work for quite a while, but it went back to its nasty ways. I have to assume that I am not the only person who's experienced this. I emailed Soldano yesterday, but haven't heard back yet. I expect it will take a few days. Has anyone had a similar problem with this amp? Here's an example.

Hi there, sorry to hear that you are having problems - this really sounds like tube sockets to me or dodgy tubes - these are relatively simple Amps, not a lot to go wrong....it is mainly in one venue or everywhere ? Dry solder joint somewhere? It can't be a design fault as others run very smoothly....good luck

Instead of emailing Mike, give him a call. He can be hit or miss on emails. Call the shop and you'll get this figured out quickly. Not sure what is going on but with all you've replaced there is most likely a problem not yet visited.

Thanks guys. I got through to Mike on the phone yesterday, and he had some advice to offer. I'm leaving for Nashville tomorrow, but I'll follow up as soon as I have a chance to spend some time with the amp. As I'm sure you guys know, Mike is a great guy, and very helpful. I wish I could say that about other amp builders I've dealt with.

Yes calling is the way to go.....let us know what is going on when it's figured out.

You need Mike to work on this amp. No one else. He can run a signal chaser through it and find the issue immediately where other guys are changing parts. Call him at the factory. Hit me up at JLB@bluescitymusic.com if you can't get through. I'll hit him up. Shop rates are $100 an hour. Very fairly priced for sure.
