Is there a sonic or technical reason why Soldano cabs are smaller?

After getting mine and comparing it to Marshall and Mesa there is thinner wood and smaller dimensions.

My best guess would be to keep the weight down. Maybe the idea is to use the one piece construction to make up for the smaller size when it comes to how big the cab sounds.
