Hi everyone,

I've just bought a second hand Hot Rod 50 (from I think around 1992 - the serial number is 0195) for a steal on the UK ebay. Sounds awesome and I can't wait to crank it.

Anyway, I have seem so many threads on the net about what albums/songs Warren used Soldano SLO amps on. There seems to be many who say he played it on Detonator and many who say he didn't.
To my ears, it really sounds like Soldano and not Marshall, I mean the leads on that album are so liquid and smooth. eg. Shame Shame Shame, or Top Secret (the solos on this are just sick)...

Can anyone confirm either way on this?

Ok, now, Mark Knopfler (my favourite guitarist). People don't seem to mention him much when discussing Soldano amps, but I have read that his setup on the On Every Street studio album and live tour album On the Night were all Soldano. What do people think about tone on this? Check out Planet of New Orleans or You and Your Friend... the lead tone is just incredible.

Cheers

Sam

I think there is definitely SLO on Detonator,,,I remember Warren in interviews mentioning songs that had the Soldano for solos. Which ones, it now escapes me. F.U.C.K. by Van Halen is clearly SLO heavy, so obvious when playing many of those riffs through an SLO. If you want to hear Warren in a very raw, Soldano rich foray, check out "collage" by ratt. Those songs are so raw and unifinished and unprocessed, and sound just like an SLO plugged in your living room. Oh yeah, Scorpions Crazy World....so Soldano laden, too.
