Hi.
Cool to see this forum in the "new" outfit.

I'm going to try out some JJ 6L6's in a SLO.
Anyone tried out these tubes?

I am interested in this topic also, my SLO has Sovtek 6L6 and they dont seem to have enough mids/highs. The low end is a bit sloppy. I have heard good things about the JJ 6L6 and the Svetlana 6L6 and am looking for threads like these to help choose!

Hi Tube Amps Only.
Nope, I've not changed the tubes yet.
I guess I have to "burn" some more with the EL-34L's.
But sooner or later, the change will come.

i've heard a lot of good things about the JJ's too and i'm planning on getting some preamp and 6l6 power tubes in the next month or so.

word is that the preamp tubes are supposed to be darker in the highs and mids (which should be a good match for soldano amps) with a lot of output which is good for high gain. also that the power tubes are very big sounding with lots of bass, smooth mids, and soft but clear highs. they're also rumoured to be more responsive and have more "give" than the stock 5881 sovteks. the only real negative i've hear is that they can be microphonic so they have to be tested pretty extensively.
