Anybody tried the Bad Cat Unleash w/ SLO?
Post by bamabluesboy on Mar 13th, 2014, 1:44pm

The Bad Cat unleash attenuator/re-amplifier looks pretty interesting. I like the switchable two setting feature. May would come in handy and a "no soundman" situation and multiple guitarist/keyboards band. The loop on it seems pretty cool too, to keep the time based effects out of the main chain, out of the SLO's loop, but post power section. Seems safe to use I guess?

Figured I'd reply quickly to this....I am running late and will elaborate later if this thread gains any traction. I just bought an Unleash, it is probably the coolest piece of gear I have added to my setup.

It's transparent, lets you add any effects post amp that you want leaving the Soldano loop alone, and lets you crank the master but have attenuation with no ill side effects on your tone. It's awesome.

I have an Unleash. Of the attenuators that I have tried it is by far my favorite. I used it a lot with my HR50, it was almost like adding a second channel.

I think it works even better as a boost I've used it with my PicoValve and H&K Tubemeister 18 and it can make them VERY loud.

I have not tried with with my SLO, it almost seems like sacrilege! A lot of people find it transparent, and while I believe it's better than most, it's not magic. It's a very useful piece of gear, I like it a lot, but I find that it does suck a little tone. I don't believe 100% transparency is possible.

I'll fire it up with the SLO one of these days.
