Yeah, that's pretty sweet. Thinking of getting a tele myself. So, does it play as good as it looks?

well, it sounds better than it looks, especially that neck pickup straight into the hotrods lead channel. sustains forever (thats against my PRS and Axis) has this great in/out phase switch for the middle position that sounds like a built in tube screamer on clean boost. she's sweet as a sweet thing as well, just really sings.

it's a swampash body on it

playability, well subjective kinda. it's a fantastic neck, but the guitar fights you a little, in a good way, really have to dig in to get the best out of it, but i like that, plus the neck, while feeling amazing and being satin finished, is a baseball bat. this neck is huge. definitely bigger than the Wide Fat on the mcarty. but i've been gradually moving up in the neck size departments anyways so i like it

Curious as to why you are moving toward thicker necks? Does that lend itself a certain style of playing?

The guitar is a babe.... And being new it's like jailbait. I like that color combination. Don't scratcher her, would hate to hear of you weeping over it....

i'm saying nothing about what' being done with her. and she's of legal age thankyou rolleyes

Yeah i don't know what it is about the necks, it's mostly been thru shear chance. i used to own esp's, ibbys etc and my favourites back then were the larger necks (the JS1000) had a reasonable neck size

then when i got back into playing again the first 2 guitars i bought were online and happened to be bigger handfulls (axis and mcarty) since then i've been going for classic neck contours. when i played this it just felt right. I started out playing metal years ago, but as i get older i play more blues based heavy rock (cantrell is a big influence) and for big dug in bends a big neck is just great can really get leverage i suppose. does lots for the tone as well

I'm the same way moving up in neck size. I use to play nothing but Ibanez Wizard necks. Then I went to PRS W/F necks and most of my guitars now are about that neck size. Though all the PRS guitars are gone. I tried some thinner necks for a while (Suhr Modern/EBMM JP) but have gone back up.

Playing the same music. Only difference for me is that my string gauge has gone from 9s when I first started playing to 13s now. Bigger necks, bigger strings. Just feels right.

I agree with the move to thicker necks. For me, I found pretty much right away after not playing for a good while, that my wrist does not fatigued as quickly with thicker vs thinner necks for rhythm chord playing. But I do prefer the PRS Regular neck width profile compared to the W/F width for my medium-sized hands when playing single notes.

Yes, the PRS neck shape on the standard 24 fretters is really great.

I think they feel better as well. More balanced feel and fuller tone. But obviously there have been great tones from strings as small as 8s. So, it's a lot of factors. I need all the help I can get. grin

To me, guitar necks don't get any better than a R9 Les Paul. The best of the best IMO. 9-46 Ernie Ball strings for me.

Thanks man grin i'm super stoked about her

i'm over on rigtalk and coincidentally one of the guys there got one of these the same day i did, he loves his too. posted a review after he used it in rehearsals last night way down at the bottom

http://www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=70686

Still on the topic on telegraph pole necks, i'm finding the're making me better technically too. if you want to shred on a fat neck your technique has to be spot on, it forces you to use correct left hand position

Edit: figured i'd slide this in here instead of starting a whole new thread. My new skreddy pigmine. she's distinct tonally, totally not what i was expecting.
