I've been using the Dunlop Yellow Tortex .73 mm gauge for awhile now, but am considering getting the Dunlop Tortex Wedge picks (wider top, thinner tip). What is your pick and gauge of choice?

I'm really into the Dunlop Jazz III's. I started off with the black ones last winter, and now I'm favoring the ultex version (seem even thicker and easier to grip for me). Now, I can't even play with a normal sized pick anymore! If you are looking for a pick that will really boost your alternate picking technique,,,the Jazz III is your pick. It took me a while to get used to playing rhythm type stuff with it though, as it is so small. But wow, I never thought I'd come to depend on a particular guitar pick,,,,,,,,,,,,,I really wish I would have discovered these years ago.

Jim Dunlop USA Nylon 1mm Black. Used them almost since day one. Everytime I branch out and try something else, I always come back to 'em.

Jim Dunlop Stubby 1.0mm or 2.0mm depending on the style of music.

Isn't it hard to riff fast with that size pick?

Hmm.. well I have medium size hands and I always found (right or wrong) myself placing my fingers close to the end of the pick. So I started practicing with these small Stubby picks and found my picking faster and more accurate though they have the ability to change the tone a bit which is why I use the heavier pick for jazz, lighter for rock.

I tried a normal pick the other day, I didn't have nearly the same speed and accuracy. Are you thinking I'm using the Dunlop Big Stubby? I'm using the smaller sized "Stubby". They are similar to a jazz pick. The others are too big.

Sorry for the delay in reply.

Fender heavy if I can't find any that are thicker.

Whatever I use they have to have the fender shape/size.

Ditto. Dunlop Jazz IIIs, black. Still wish they were a hair thicker, like the old Fender Jazz Heavy teardrops.

I've been using the Snarling Dogs 1.14 picks. They are'nt as thick as I like but they have a sandpaper like grip to them and they never slip out of my fingers!!

I use the Fender 347 pick in mediums. It is similar to the old Gibson "star" picks that Gibson does not make anymore. It is a small teardrop classic celluloid pick. Not as small as the normal jazz style pick but not as large as the standard 351 size. I play alot of slide and I use my fingers for that. So I need a pick that I can easily tuck in the bend of my right ring finger. I'm constantly switching between my pick and my fingers even when I'm not playing slide. This size pick really does well for me.
