tempo too fast the song. vocals too loud against the backing track. i'd like to hear the vocals crescendo over the rhythm parts as the song goes on. playing is good. lyrics, i like, but that doesn't say much! after a second listen, it dynamically sounds flat. better than i could do, yes. but this is only an opinion that i hope makes you better. wish i could have this kind of input at your age!!!

New song up. Full band, although I wrote all the parts except for the bassline, which is disgustingly sick by the way. The best thing my bassist has ever done!

I wrote the lyrics and melody as well to this new one.

That's the tempo I wanted

But what are you listening to the song through. The reason why I re-recorded was to make the vocal track easier to hear, and it's much more prominent, and I don't think I could get it louder without it overpowering the rest of the song. Keep in mind though that when I listen to the recording I'm not listening through anything better than computer speakers so it might sound different

You are right, it is flat for the most part, I blame the headphones I was listening through to record the vox, I should bring my personal ones to do it.

Thank you for listening and giving me your critique! I can't wait to record this in a studio!

Recording yourself is an incredible challange. I use a tascam porta studio and a sm57 for guitar. I only record to get tracks to our drummer to work on. This saves alot of time when coming up with new material.

I am always learning new tricks to improve my recordings.

One thing I learned fast was not to mixdown using headphones or computer speakers. Even real good ones still have tiny speakers and sound brighter and thinner than normal speakers. When I listened to my recordings in the car or on my stereo it sounded flat and lifeless because I rolled off too much treble. I use studio monitors when mixing down and the end result sounds much better to me. I record and burn a CD. Then I grab it and take into my car and listen to it. Adjust it from there.

The tascam is a good buy. I like how I can just record, master it and rip a CD in one box. Has a ton of memory also.
