ME !!!!

Just kidding. grin

A couple that comes to mind first is:

Jack Pearson: (www.jackpearson.com)
A popular Nashville guitarist that has worked, recorded and written songs for many big name artists. I’ve seen him live a couple of times while playing for the Allman Brothers Band. He is a great player.

And

Greg Martin: (www.gregmartin.com)
Greg is mostly known for his work with the Kentucky Headhunters. Just a great Southern, Blues & Rock guitarist and very good slide player too. He’s got great TONE also!!!

Jake E. Lee. While Randy and Zakk have pumped out Ozzy tunes with rage like a pen full of bulls that had their testicles pinched, it's easy to forget about Jake. Just an unreal guitar player. cool

Ditto! I saw Jake w/Badlands in '89 in a small club - leaned on Jakes monitors the whole night - and he is an amazing player.

Mick Mars is a VERY under rated player. So is Brian May, Jerry Cantrell and a boat load of others. It seems like the guys that put their ego in the back seat and play for the song get overlooked in favor of the weedly-weedly-weedly million notes per second guys.

Ditto for Jake E. Lee.

I never was a big Ozzy fan
(don't hold that against me) but I did like his work with the Badlands.

I actually had to play "Jade's Song" for a wedding several years ago.

Oh man, I have to agree also about Jerry Cantrell. Glad to see he's bring HIS band back! AIC rules. Plus, Jerry uses Soldano's in his amp arsenal!!!!!!! How cool is that?

SLASH!!!!!

Just kidding, VERY just kidding lol
Umm...

I gotta go with my boy McCready, as well Robben Ford, Eric Johnson, and Derek Trucks. While they're widely very well respected in their fields, they're barely acknowledged by the public sad sad

Well, he's using a Marsha and a Bogner now. My partner builds his rigs. A pic from the lab (before the Marsha went in):

Little EVH stage left action as well:

Most under rated guys that I know are the guitarists from Tesla. Great tone, playing and song writing.

I like those players. I think Eric Johnson gets plenty of attention these days. Robben Ford is great and is probably little know by the younger guitarists. Derek is well known throughout the Allman Brothers Community, but has gained a tremendous amount of popularity after touring with Clapton. The Derek Truck's band just won “Best Contemporary Blues Album” the other day at the Grammy’s.

I agree. Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch are great guitar players. I haven’t seen them live yet with the Skeoch’s replacement Dave Rude. I met Frank Hannon one time at a guitar store in Birmingham Alabama. He looked like he had not bathed in several days. He was very nice though.

Another guy that comes to mind is Vito Bratta. If he played with anyone but White Lion, he would have got more credit, but he is kind of like a cross between the structured approach of Randy with the feel of early EVH. I'd put his phrasing up against anyone.

I guess it depends on what you mean by underrated. If you mean unheard of, disregard this.

#1 Les Paul..... Until his passing, very little was discussed about his playing style and inventive mind. He brought us all so much, in gear, music production, and basically the wide spread acceptance of the electric guitar.

#2 Tonny Iommi..... although he has been front cover guitar mag material latley, and everyone knows his name, he does not get enough credit. Cutting of his finger tips could be the best thing that has ever happened to hard rock guitar.
