Thanks for the input...

I've tried a Voodoo Lab Trem (early two knob version) and the Diaz Trem (early hand signed) and for some reason neither really grabbed me. Lately, I've been thinking about a trem pedal...would you mind sharing some of your experiences?

I’ve been through a lot of tremolo pedals too and my results my surprise you. I too have had both the trems that you just mentioned. I actually liked the Diaz, but the depth and speed knobs were a little too tricky. It was hard to dial in a good sound because the knobs only had a small range to play with. Here lately I have been using a Monster Effect’s Swamp Thang. It has a sound real close to the Diaz but seems to be a little more pronounced. There seems to be a boost on the bass and volume when you kick it on that makes it really stand out on loud stages. It's a little overwelming in the bedroom practicing, but live it does a great job. I even owned owned a $500 Custom Audio Electronics rack mount Super Tremolo. It sounded great and had many features, but rack mount stuff is a hassle and honestly most pedals sound just as good as it did. I also owned the Peavey rack mount tube reverb/tremolo (the actual name of the unit escapes me). It too had a real nice tremolo sound but again it was rack mount and real noisy with the SLO.

The Fulltone Supa-Trem…..

I try not to use Fulltone because of personal reasons, but I have to admit the Supa-Trem is nice (I use a Clyde too). I like the big knobs. The “soft” setting sounds real good. It does seem to have slightly pronounced “mids” when engaged, but this does not seem to bother me as much as the extra bass that the Swamp Thang seems to give me. Sounds good with the SLO and even works in the loop.

The Boss TR-2…… shocked………(yes that is what I said).

I generally do not like many Boss products and in this day and age Boss is a bad word among most self proclaimed “tone gurus” out there. The Boss TR2 is a really good tremolo. Most players do not like it because of a volume drop when on and the buffer. But I just don’t notice a volume drop that much and might even prefer it because I’ve also had the Analogman and Keeley modded version of this pedal and I actually like the stock one better. Despite what all the “tone purists” say, I think the Boss buffer is very transparent and does not effect the original tone (makes super quiet switching too). I’m just not big on true bypass any more. There are great buffer pedals out there that sound better than true bypass. The Boss Tr-2 just gives a nice smooth tremolo sound. The EQ is flat and very subtle. This can sometimes be a problem though on really lod stages, but in the studio the Boss would be hard to beat. The switching is quite. The bypass sounds good and IT’S CHEAP

In conclusion I like the Boss, Fulltone and Swamp Thang. With the Swamp Thang being my favorite right now.

Told you the SCF was a nice pedal. Not too many guys use it anymore. The whole "true bypass" craze has made it a pedlboard "no-no". I put the SCF in a true bypass loop pedal and switched it in and out while playing and never noticed any tone changes. It has a nice transparent buffer. I have been using the SCF for about five or so gigs in a row. Next gig I'm gonna go back to the rotosphere and see which one I prefer. I know this weekend I played a very loud gig and the SCF sounded great all night. It cut through the mix like a knife and never sounded harsh.

Just picked up a Boss RC-20XL, and have ordered a Moog MF-102. Fun, fun, fun.
Depending on the situation/style/songs I'll plug into a Vox Compressor --> Korg Tuner --> MXR Carbon Copy Delay --> Avenger or just the tuner or just the amp.
When I'm at home with the practice amp I'll funk with anything I can get my hands on.

I played a gig this weekend and went back to my Rotosphere from my TC Electronic Chorus. The Rotosphere is addictive. I have a Hammond B3 player in my band that probably plays as many solos as I do. It’s nice to use the Rotosphere at times playing behind his solos. Also, I really like the “breaker” switch on the Rotosphere. You can work that thing and really get some cool sounds. The TC is great and does a nice clean and quiet fast Leslie setting, but I think I like the ramp functions of the Rotosphere enough to look past all the "issues" that it has.

This is a pic of the Nashville Amp Expo 09' Soldano Display I set up in one of my suites. Small amps on right are my own #001 44 BCM and one in black tolex etc. for sale. Then Avenger, Hot Rod 50+, Decatone, red 3 option SLO, and my one off SLO.

Pedal Train Pro board, VooDoo Labs pedal power 2 supply, with guitar going in/out 5 - 1/4" female mono plug jacks, then Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah, Peterson Strobe tuner, KLON Centaur Overdrive (never any gain selected, only used as sustainer), Maxon PH350 Phaser, Fulltone Choral Flange, Fulltone Deja Vibe 2, Fulltone Supa Trem, Maxon AD999 analog delay, then Creation Audio Labs Mark 4.23 +24db volume boost. All go to the guitar input, NO LOOP.

Oh yea, only thing from Gibson on that 05' ebony Les Paul Std. is the paint and logo. 4 Luthiers later, a bunch of awesome parts, and it is a tone monster. Best part, Tom Anderson stainless steel jumbo fret wire. It sustains forever especially with the KLON.

JLB,

Are you using the Maxon Analog Delay in front of an amp or in a loop?

Oh, and to add SOMETHING of value kinda to this thread other than drooling over that picture...

I have a BBE Mind Bender Chorus
a Boss SD-1 Overdrive
and a boss DS-1 Distortion (BLEGH!!!!)

I'm going to get a TS9, Fulltone OCD, MXR DIII possibly, a Teese wah, maybe a CE-2 (which would replace the hell out of my mind bender wink)

Anyone got any suggestions on a delay pedal...something not digital...
