Roody, tell me something. the Pro 14 has a seperate effects loop designed to feed into the amps effects loop right? now it also has trim controls for input and output levels.

given that most soldano's are line level, could you use the trim to cut the level going into a -10db pedal (say a stompbox chorus or delay) so it mathces, then boost it back up on the other side up to line level?

I don't know that it can be used in that fashion but if you need something to run an instrument level stompbox into a line level loop, the Ebtech Line Level Shifter is a handy little box that does exactly that. It converts line to instrument or instrument to line level to correct those mis-matches for you. its also under $100.
I'm planning to use my GigRig to run all pedals through the front end of my amp in the various combinations that I want. The GigRig will also allow a solo boost smiley

ah now i tried the line level shifter and it didn't work.. wasn't rally designed for fx loops, more PA gear and desks apparently..

a guy i know in the uk who is fairly tight with the gigrigs owner suggests it can be used like this, just wonderign if anyones tried it as it would be a handy feature in addition to hooking up combo's of pedals

I tried the Ebtech Line Level Shifter in the loop of my Bogner Uberschall before. Seemed to do what they claimed. Problem with the Uberschall loop is that no matter what I ran through it, including the proper line level G-Major rack effects, it always seemed to take away from the tone and sustain. So I gave up on running anything in the Uberschall's loop.
As for the GigRig Pro 14, its a mighty expensive piece of gear if its going to be used mainly as a line/intrument level converter at over $1000 new shocked But if you plan to use it for the other functions along with that then its a killer piece of gear! I need to get a GigRig Evenflo which is their power connector for the Eventide stompboxes and then I'm ready to assemble my pedalboad. I Already have the George L's cable and ends waiting here along with a Trailer Trash pedalboard and ATA case to transport it all in smiley

yeah i'm definitely not buying it just for that grin it would be a bonus if it did that, but i'm buying it for what it's supposed to be used for, i got god knows how many OD's and distortions, and the signal is starting to degrade thru the patch cables now

In that case the GigRig will work great for you! The other cool thing about the GigRig is that it can be used to boost your solos too smiley

yeah my mate was saying that, like TS going into a TS lol. i can also apparently get a little discount thru him and a pedal board built around it (although they offer that service anyway)

but on the point of the OP, my buddys trying to get my to have the MIDI control installed from the outset just in case. does yours have MIDI and does it work well?

My GigRig Pro 14 does not have MIDI and I don't think I'll be needing MIDI for anything. But just in case, I did pick up a used GigRig MIDI-8 smiley It accepts a smaller number of pedals but has MIDI.
